About the project "Voz"
“Voz” is a community collaboration and multimedia project led by Michael Beserra generating a lasting cultural resource of contemporary Chicanx poetry for our current and coming generations in Los Angeles and beyond. He is building upon the legacy of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Tia Chucha Press, The Watts Prophets, and others who have challenged the under-representation of Black, Indigenous and Brown creative works in academic, civic and media spaces. Michael’s goal is to continue developing opportunities for Latinx youth to see (and hear) themselves reflected, foster multigenerational relationships with artists and tap into their abilities for creativity and self-determination.
100% of the proceeds will support EastSide Café, a volunteer-run autonomous community space in El Sereno, Los Angeles, CA.

Vancouver Art Book Fair
The Vancouver Art Book Fair is a FREE multi-day festival of artists' publishing that showcases local and international exhibitors who produce everything from books, magazines, zines and printed ephemera to digital, performative or other experimental forms of publication.
EastSide Café
Mission
We are a group of Zapatista inspired, El Sereno residents that co-facilitate a multi-disciplinary, autonomous space. We are dedicated to rebuilding, reconstructing and reclaiming our communities by creating sustainable projects and collectives to empower one another. WE strive to build citywide multiethnic autonomous networks to represent the initial phase of a long-term communal development plan. We are committed to supporting an active citizenry and renewed communal identity that is continuously engaged in planning for the future through self-determination, education, cultural arts and community dialogue.
Vision
The Eastside Cafe is committed to the belief that all people and all communities have the right to self-governance and self-determination and that we possess within our own communities all the knowledge and power to make this a reality. We are not involved in a struggle for power-we possess the power already and are working to create a positive alternative to the struggles our communities face.
